Obligatory Year End Post

Well, I've been busy.  Okay, no, not really.  More like busy spelled L-A-Z-Y...heh.  Did Christmas really happen?  I guess it did because it's almost New Year's Day here in L.A.  Christmas was a blur.  It came up so fast right after Thanksgiving...remember Thanksgiving?  Seems like it happened so long ago.  So, yeah, Christmas, family, gifts, yadda, yadda, yadda.  We didn't even decorate...which would have meant putting a wreath on the door!  Heh.

Right after Christmas, suddenly things started breaking down all around here.  The furnace stopped working.  During one of the coldest weeks in L.A.  BrrrrrrGrrrrrr!  That's me being cold and mad at the same time.  Then we noticed a puddle forming in the corner where the water heater is located.  We still have hot water for the time being but who knows if it will last until we can get the new one installed this weekend?  Grrrrrrr!  At least Mr. Chickpea was able to fix the leaking toilet.  Well, it's working for now but there's plans for a new toilet in the near future.  So yeah, on top of the bills for Christmas spending, we got more big bills coming for the new appliances.  Ugh...doesn't feel like a good start to a new year for me.  Boo hoo.  Happy frakking new year!

Cough, cough...

It looks spooky outside...smoky, hazy air...about usual for this time of year in CA.  Thank goodness I live in an area not affected by any of the fires...so far.  I only have to deal with the smelly, smoky air so I can't complain.  I haven't been out of the house this weekend except to go to the market for groceries.  I was needing ingredients for making some comfort food...what with all the fires going on and PMS and all that.  Too much information?  Heh.

The news coverage of the fires in CA have been non-stop.  I thought surely the Prop 8 protests on Saturday would not be going on in the Southern CA area at least, since all the Fire and Police departments would be busy with dealing with the fires...but no...whiny crybabies still have to have their tantrums while all this chaos is going on.  I have no problem with same sex marriage and even voted against Prop 8.  I was genuinely surprised that Prop 8 even passed here in liberal CA.  But the people have spoken and it's done...well...done until it gets turned over by the court.  Why even have people vote if the court is going to decide how people should have voted in the first place?  So, now I'm angry and irritated (and it's not just PMS!)...I'm angry that the people voted and it's going to get "unvoted."  I'm irritated with all these whiny-ass bitches crying about civil rights (is marriage a right?  I've always thought of it as a privilege...) when there are already civil unions available in CA which accord the same benefits to "domestic partners" as "married" people.  If all this whining and crying is over semantics...really?  REALLY????

And all these boycotts and blacklisting (yes, BLACKLISTING) of people and companies who had donated to the Yes on Prop 8 cause...just really off-putting...and scary.  Just who are the FACISTS now????

Ugh...so yeah, I need some comfort food...some turkey meatloaf ..and Dexter tonight!

Back to your regularly scheduled program...

Well, at least now I can live in denial for a little bit and enjoy all the TV shows that are coming back on schedule.  I'm enjoying Fringe very much.  It's X-File-y.  I am not enjoying Heroes...all that time travel crap is confusing.  I'm hoping Pushing Daisies doen't get cancelled.  That's a great show and I hope they bring back Paul Reubens' character.  I really like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  The time travel stuff isn't as confusing if you don't think about it too much...heh.

Well, I can't entirely escape from any news of "that one."  I wasn't a fan of Nancy Reagan but, come on, show some class and respect Mr. President Elect...at least that will make it easier for me to accept when you take my hard earned money that I worked for and use it to pay for all those national programs and services you've got planned for us.  Goodbye 401k!  I was so looking forward to the day when you and I would spend our retirement together...sigh.

Well, there is still some time left before it's the USSRA (United Socialist States of the Republik of Amerika), so I'm still enjoying Chuck.  The premise is silly, but I like the characters on the show.  I like How I Met Your Mother.  Neil Patrick Harris is great.  I'm enjoying Samantha Who?  Christina Applegate is adorable.  And even though blowhard Alec Baldwin is on 30 Rock, I still like that show and find his character hilarious.  Yeah, even though Tina Fey is really making fun of Sarah Palin when she plays her, I still find the show really funny...heh.

What a sad day for this country.  Now I really, really, really, have to have HOPE that the Dear Leader won't run this country into the crapper.

Mr. Chickpea and I just came back from lunch with the usual gang.  I was not really looking forward to lunch because I just knew politics would be brought up.  I knew some of the people were on the opposite side of me so I wasn't surprised when I had to listen to all this crap about how McCain and Palin were horrible.  I was surprised though by the amount of hatred and vitriol aimed at Sarah Palin by the two ladies in the group.  You'd think with them being enlightened feminist Democrat mothers that they'd be supportive of an accomplished woman who is a mother and Governor, but no fucking way.  All they did was bash her for being dumb; they criticized Trig for being not "normal" for a Down's baby (that he shouldn't be sleeping so much and looked "slow!!!"); they criticized her as a mother because her 17 year old daughter got pregnant; they called her "white trash"; they said there was no way a woman would do well having a career and a family!"  What. The. Fuck?!  What about Mr. First Dude?  He actually took time to take care of the family when Gov. Palin was working.  They totally dismissed him, implying that it was the mother that was most important.  Actually, that didn't surprise me since the two also spent much time dissing their husbands' habits that drove them mad.  Finally, one of the husbands wanting to get the heat off of him asked me if there was anything Mr. Chickpea did that drove me mad.  Of course he does, but I wasn't about to go bashing him in public in front of friends acting like I was the EMPRESS of the house.

I was asked who I was going to vote for.  I said it was more like who I was NOT going to vote for, so that left me with voting for McCain and Palin (Country First!).  Of course that led to me being asked why I wasn't going to vote for Obamessiah.  I said that first, he's a communist (heh) and second, he doesn't have any executive experience.  Well, they said Palin doesn't have any experience either.  Oh no?  She was a MAYOR and is a GOVERNOR.  What has Obamessiah done?  Reason dismissed, even though they didn't have an answer.  Also dismissed was all the experience he does have with associates in his past and present like Wright, Ayers and Rezko.  It was A-OK with them that Obamessiah is a Socialist/Marxist.  They don't think that they will get fucked up the ass with higher taxes.  Well, I hope that they will be willing to "spread their wealth" my way if The One gets to be president.  I'm going to personally show up with my hands out for some of that wealth!  I'm going to need it.

I was surprised that the husband of one of the ladies was a Republican with him being from Massachusetts.  He said he rebelled against his parents who were hippies...hahaha.  Actually, I don't know that he's a Republican but I know that he's thinking the same way as me in regard to the commie that may become president.  Holy hell...my parents immigrated from China to get away from the commies...and now...to think this country may go that way.  Socialism doesn't work.  Look at France, Germany and now Canada.  They've all chosen governments to the right again...because Socialism DOES NOT WORK.

Oh, we had lunch at Cafe Santorini in Old Town Pasadena.  It was pretty good.  I had the chicken kebobs this time.

Bullet Points...

...because it's late and I'm too lazytired right now.

  • all the lies and rumors and insane crap about Gov. Sarah Palin is just really disgusting.  Yeah, she's not perfect, but she was a Mayor and is a Governor...that in itself qualifies her MORE than the Obamessiah to be Vice President, if not President.  And she did it by not being married to someone...oh...say...like a past President.  Hmph!  Just which party is really the "progressive" party here?  Feh...whatever...I'm sure whoever is going to be President will do good things...and bad things...just like every other President in the past.  Sigh.  So sick of it all...feels like this election has gone on forever.  Wow...that was a long bullet point...better stop now before I go on forever and ever about all this crap.
  • Spiders...they're all over the place in the house...daddy long legs in the corners, big "Charlotte" spiders out in the front yard bushes building their big webs each night.  I was going to take a picture of one of them today, but getting so close to one freaked me out!  it was HUGE.
  • So not ready for the holidays that will quickly come before you know it.
  • Why am I so busy at work now?  Could it be because I've been slacking and now it's catching up to me?  Nah...can't be that.

Catching up some more...

Lazy, blah, blah, lazy, blah, blah, blah...you know the drill.  There was also some time off for a vacation, the Beijing Olympics, more books read and more being lazy...heh.

I think this election has finally become exciting...well, it's certainly caught my attention now.  Could there be a "Madame President" in the near future?????  Even though I'm not religious, even though I'm not a conservative with a capital C, even though I'm not anti-abortion or anti-gay-marriage, I would vote for her if she was running for President right now!  I mean, I'd rather choose a pro-American over an anti-ChristAmerican any day...heh.  I just don't want to get taxed up the ass, that's all I'm sayin'.

It's funny how Mr. Chickpea and I seem to be on opposite sides a lot.  We attended arch-rival universities.  We started out in different political parties and while I have crossed over to the dark side and joined the same party as Mr. Chickpea, we still have opposite opinions...WTH?  I think we've been canceling out each other's votes....GRRRR!  Still we don't fight and go nuts over our opinions...at least we haven't yet...heh.  I guess it's all good.

Catching up

Wow...yeah, I've been LAZY about posting.  I've read several books since the last time I posted...and I'm feeling too lazy to post about them now...heh.

Hm...so what's happened?  Um...yeah, how about that earthquake a couple of weeks ago?  I was at work when it happened and even though we were trained to duck under our desks...I just rode it out...haha.  The newly retrofitted building held up well.

How about the Olympics, eh?  I was very impressed with the opening ceremonies.  China put on a pretty spectacular show I have to say.  You know, I don't agree with the Chinese government, but I think this is a good thing for them.  Can't we just quit it with the protests and politics for a couple of weeks?  Just two little tiny weeks?  So all you protesters, just take a vacation or something.  Go to a spa and chill.  All that whining and screaming about Tibet and human rights, blah, blah, blah...we know.  Chinese commie government = BAD. China isn't the only "bad" country to have hosted an Olympics, okay?  Let's give them a chance to open up a little more...a little step at a time.  Oh, I'm definitely rooting for USA, but I can't help but feel some pride for the country of my ancestors.

What else?  Oh...how about that John Edwards?  CHEATING CHEATER WHO CHEATS!  The cult of Barack "Taxes!" Obama is wigging me out.  All those posters and hand signs remind of me of commie propaganda posters.  I'm just sayin'.  Yeah, I'm not that crazy about McCain either, but...sigh.

  • Mr. Chickpea will be attending a work retreat at the end of this week.  Freedom!!!  I'll have about 2 days to myself.  I can eat whatever I want whenever I want.  I can do whatever I want whenever I want.  I can sleep in the middle of the bed!  Oh, yeah, of course I'll miss him.  I'm kind of wary about sleeping in the house all by myself...hm...maybe I shouldn't have mentioned it.  Oh well...no one reads this anyway!!  Heh.
  • We will be taxed to death (and even after death!) if Barack Obama becomes President.  Just remember that when you vote.
  • Why is it that some drivers drive so damn slow but when approaching a yellow light, they suddenly are able to step on the freaking gas pedal and gun it through the intersection, leaving me stuck at the red light?????  It ALWAYS happens to me.  WTF???
