I finished Notes on a Scandal a few days ago. It was a pretty good read. The narrator was definitely a manipulative "friend" and was very sarcastic and droll with her introspective comments about all the other characters around her.
I started A Certain Justice by P.D. James but haven't had any interest in it beyond reading a couple of pages into the first chapter. I will have to really start reading it soon since it's a library book and must be returned soon. It's one in the series featuring Adam Dalgliesh.
I finally finished Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. It took me a long time to read it mostly because I would only read a few pages and then get sleepy and have to put it down so I could go to bed! I wouldn't have put down this book so easily each night if it had really grabbed me...it didn't. The story never really caught my interest enough. I just didn't really care about any of the characters. I just finished the book to finish it, since I always finish reading a book once I start it even if I don't like it. There are a few questions at the end of the story that don't get cleared up...maybe the author is leaving it open for a third book in the series pertaining to Oz.
So next on the reading docket is a British mystery...The Murder Room by P.D. James. I thought I'd give this author a try since I have enjoyed other British writers in the mystery genre. She also wrote the book Children of Men that became a movie recently. That is on my reading list before I watch the movie though. It helps also that Clive Owens is in that movie...he's hawt! So it was on my movie viewing list anyway...heh.
