I have a confession to make...

...I like that TV show for kids, iCarly.
There I said it. I don't care. It's a silly and cute show.
I need something to help me get through the next four years and this show helps a lot. Heh.
Well, at least now I can live in denial for a little bit and enjoy all the TV shows that are coming back on schedule. I'm enjoying Fringe very much. It's X-File-y. I am not enjoying Heroes...all that time travel crap is confusing. I'm hoping Pushing Daisies doen't get cancelled. That's a great show and I hope they bring back Paul Reubens' character. I really like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The time travel stuff isn't as confusing if you don't think about it too much...heh.
Well, I can't entirely escape from any news of "that one." I wasn't a fan of Nancy Reagan but, come on, show some class and respect Mr. President Elect...at least that will make it easier for me to accept when you take my hard earned money that I worked for and use it to pay for all those national programs and services you've got planned for us. Goodbye 401k! I was so looking forward to the day when you and I would spend our retirement together...sigh.
Well, there is still some time left before it's the USSRA (United Socialist States of the Republik of Amerika), so I'm still enjoying Chuck. The premise is silly, but I like the characters on the show. I like How I Met Your Mother. Neil Patrick Harris is great. I'm enjoying Samantha Who? Christina Applegate is adorable. And even though blowhard Alec Baldwin is on 30 Rock, I still like that show and find his character hilarious. Yeah, even though Tina Fey is really making fun of Sarah Palin when she plays her, I still find the show really funny...heh.
How about something other than books for a change? I gotta be more creative with the headings....
1. The Sarah Connor Chronicles - I'm not really a big fan of the Terminator series of movies, but I've seen them all. I thought I'd give the Terminator tv show a try and I'm glad I did. It's a really good show. Actually, what drew me to watch was the casting of Summer Glau as a good terminator. I loved her in the Firefly tv show and the movie Serenity.
2. Ugh...the primaries...Obama...Clinton...blah, blah, blah...McCain...yawn. SO. SICK. OF. IT. ALL. Okay, I'm just mad because my favorite candidate is out and I don't like any of the remaining candidates...especially the leading ones. Maybe I'll base my vote on the spouses. Michelle - obnoxious and patronizing...lady, you live in a mansion and have a six-figure salary, graduated from ivy-league colleges,...you don't have it hard and don't even bring race into it...just shut up already. Bill - womanizing, lying liar-womanizer! Cindy - pretty and quiet so far. Heh.
3. I felt that Project Runway was a little boring this season. Maybe it was the long wait and the anticipation, but it just doesn't have the same pull for me as it did the seasons before. Maybe because there wasn't a clear "villain" this season and there wasn't any crazy drama. MAKE IT WORK already!
4. Not looking forward to a wedding banquet this weekend...seeing relatives...having to endure remarks from aunties like, "Wah, Ms. Chickpea, you're getting fat! You better go on a diet! Hee hee" and "When are you going to have a baby? Don't wait too long...you're getting old you know! Hee hee" S. I. G. HHHHHH.
I finished Night Passage by Robert B. Parker a while ago and have since started on the next book in the Jesse Stone series, Trouble in Paradise. I was just too lazy to post at the time. Plus I have to really get a move on on all my reading since I've got 3 more books lined up before the next due date at the library! Anyways, I really enjoyed Night Passage and can see Tom Selleck portraying the character of Jesse Stone, Police Chief of Paradise in the TV movies based on the books. I think this book even makes a mention of Tom Selleck! But, Tom in real life is too old to be Jesse Stone in the book, since he's supposed to be in his 30's.
I'm already near the end of Trouble in Paradise. That Jesse Stone sure gets the ladies. He is still in love with his ex-wife who can't seem to stay monogamous with him, although she loves him too. He's already hooked up with the lawyer who used to be the Town Council. And in this book he hooks up with the real estate agent for Stiles Island in Paradise. And I know in the "future" he hooks up with P.I. Sunny Randall who is in another series by Robert B. Parker...heh.
Well, since I'm already near the end of Trouble in Paradise, I might as post the next book I will be reading. It's Dexter in the Dark by Jeff Lindsay. This is the series featuring Dexter, a serial killer with a code, who kills other serial killers or criminals only. This series is the basis for the Dexter show on Showtime, which I LOVE with a fervor I haven't had since The X-Files...heh. The show, although based on the Dexter books, really doesn't and won't be following the book storylines much I think. Well, the first season had some plot points taken from the first Dexter book, but I think it has since gone it's own way in the second season. There are only 3 books in the Dexter series so far.
I've been spending a lot of time watching some new TV shows. I'm enjoying so far: Pushing Daisies, Reaper, Chuck, and Back to You. I'm watching Bionic Woman even though I'm not that crazy about it. I'm dating myself, but I remember watching the original Bionic Woman series although I don't really remember it. I'm watching it mainly because Katee Sackhoff is in it as an evil bionic woman and I'm a big fan of Battlestar Galactica. (Although I'm not crazy about the new cylons that were revealed at the season finale...boooooo!) Anyway...I'm still watching Heroes even though this second season hasn't really grabbed me like the first season did. I'm still watching How I Met Your Mother...although sometimes it feels like a second-rate Friends. I guess I want to find out how Ted finally meets his future wife and the mother of his children.
Well, after being so sick of politics and world events, I took a deep breath and retreated from the world and caught up on all the recorded TV shows I haven't watched for the last 2 to 3 weeks.
Battlestar Galactica - It was the season finale episode where the new series of cylons are revealed. Well, four out of five were revealed. I'm not crazy about which characters were "awakened" and revealed to the viewers as well as to themselves as cylons. And let's just say that if Starbuck, who suddenly shows up after we were led to believe she was dead a couple episodes ago, is revealed to be a cylon, I just may have to stop watching this show. And I really, really like this show, so if Starbuck turns out to be a cylon, all I have to say is...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Andy Barker, PI - This is a new show featuring Andy Richter. It's produced by Conan O'Brien. I like this show...it's really funny! It's got a great cast. I think if you were a fan of Arrested Development, you'd probably like this show. I was a big fan of Arrested Development...heh.
Scrubs - This season doesn't seem as funny or good as before. I'm not sure what it is...maybe there are different writers on the show this season? Perhaps. I'll still watch it though...out of loyalty I guess. With me, it's like books, once I start a book, I finish it even if I'm hating the story! (So, yeah, even if Starbuck is a cylon next season, I'll still be watching BSG...heh.) I've invested probably five years (or however long it's been on) already so I do want to watch it to the very end.
Bones - This is a weird show. They deal with gross stuff like decomposed bodies but then they throw in some lighthearted banter between the characters. I was interested in this show because it is based on Kathy Reichs and her books, all of which I've read and really liked. The show differs a lot though from the books. But, hey, David Boreanaz is on the show as an FBI agent. He's hot!
There are a lot (A LOT) more TV shows I watch but those are the ones I wanted to comment on for now.
I'm hooked on a new TV show called Men in Trees. Usually, my interest in TV shows run toward the sitcoms and sci-fi-ish shows, but this particular show has really caught my interest. It's sorta like that old show Northern Exposure, which I loved, but this time it's a woman who moves to a small town in Alaska. There are some quirky characters, just as in Northern Exposure, but I think the comparisons end right about there. While I'm not a big fan of Ann Heche, who plays the main character, I have to say she's won me over. Her love interest on the show, Jack, is a big plus too. He's got this quiet, manly hotness and sounds very Clint Eastwood-y which is very appealing...to me anyway. There's an Asian character on the show too. I don't have anything against her character really, but she talks with a heavy Chinese accent and dresses kinda tacky. I'd just like to see more Asians on TV shows that speak with a regular ol' American accent.
